Creating a Stunning 3D Vintage Santa Card (Christmas Time Collection - Craft&You Design)
Hello, my wonderful crafting friends!
Natalia here, and I'm so excited to finally share this stunning Christmas creation with you!
Today's project is a highly dimensional card, perfect for showcasing the beautiful imagery and warm, vintage feel of the Christmas Time collection. This paper line is a dream for layered cardmaking, offering so many gorgeous elements to fussy cut.
The main goal with this design was to achieve a rich, 3D composition without making the card too heavy. We focused on creating a beautiful visual cluster around the classic Santa Claus image, which is the heart of the card.
We used a lot of precise fussy cutting to extract the Santa, the little house, and other decorative elements. By mounting these pieces with varying thicknesses of foam tape, we built a miniature scene that truly pops off the page!
A key technique I feature in the video is creating those gorgeous, delicate flowers. I cut the large and small poinsettias using a die set and, instead of regular cardstock, I used vellum paper.
The vellum gives the flowers a beautiful transparency and lightness. To enhance the vintage feel, I gently brushed a touch of Distress Oxide ink into the center of each flower before assembling them. This technique is a fantastic way to add a custom, soft colour to your florals.
Want to see exactly how I built every single layer, from the background to the final decorative touches? I break down the entire process step-by-step in my video tutorial.
