One Stencil – Six Creative Backgrounds
Hello everyone!
Natalia here, and today I’m excited to show you something special — how I used one stencil to create six completely different backgrounds, and then turned each one into a finished card.
I worked with a beautiful stencil from Craft&You Design, adding colorful inks, stencil butter, and some fun twists like flipping or shifting the stencil.
These backgrounds are quick to make and perfect for cardmaking, scrapbooking, or other paper crafts. It’s amazing how versatile one stencil can be!
Background #1 – Simple Ink Blending Through a Stencil
For this one, I kept it simple. A clean and vibrant card made with colorful inks through the stencil — sometimes simple really is the most striking.
Background #2 – Dark Cardstock with Stencil Butter
Using dark cardstock makes stencil butter really pop! This one has a bold, textured look that feels really luxurious.
Background #3 – Tone-on-Tone Ink Blending
Here I blended my background and then used the same ink color through the stencil — a lovely subtle effect.
Background #4 – Mirrored Ink Blending
I inked through the stencil once, then flipped it upside down and inked again for a mirrored design.
Background #5 – Tone-on-Tone with Movement
This time I flipped the stencil upside down and moved it slightly while inking for a textured tone-on-tone look.
Background #6 – Triple Shifted Stencil
I stenciled once, then shifted the stencil down three times to create a layered movement effect.
It’s such a great feeling to see how one stencil can give you so many possibilities — and then turn them into beautiful, finished cards.
These techniques are quick, fun, and you can easily adapt them to any style or color palette you like.
