Cozy Winter Scene Layered Card Tutorial (with Video!)

Hello, amazing crafters, and welcome back!
Today, I’m thrilled to share a project that perfectly captures the cozy, vintage feeling of a winter morning: a heavily-layered Christmas card featuring the sweetest snowman scene beautifully framed by a rustic shutter window. If you love dimension, beautiful floral accents, and a touch of sparkle, this is the tutorial for you!
This card is all about mixing beautiful elements: charming stamps, intricate dies, and layered flowers. I'll be focusing on achieving a Shabby Chic look with lots of texture and careful placement of every detail. It looks complicated, but I break down the entire process in my step-by-step video tutorial below!
The core of this card is the delightful stamped image. I used the wonderful Ho Ho Ho Snowman Stamp Set from Polkadoodles, selecting the cute little snowman enjoying a cup next to his presents.
I always find that the right details elevate a simple stamped image. I coloured the scene using my favourite alcohol markers, but the key detail is the glitter glue I added to the little Christmas tree. It catches the light beautifully and adds that essential festive shimmer!
Every cozy scene needs a setting! For the main element, I relied on the versatile Pretty Shutter Window Dies. I die-cut the window and then coloured it with a simple brown distress ink to give it a vintage, weathered wood look. This element beautifully frames our snowman scene, adding depth and a lovely focal point to the design.
To finish the composition, I focused on adding extreme dimension. I layered in a mix of greenery from various foliage dies (all linked below, of course!). And finally, those beautiful pink and white poinsettias! These handmade flowers were created in a previous tutorial - if you missed it, I’ve linked that video too so you can learn how to make them.
