Moody Metallic Peonies with Verdigris Patina

Hi everyone!

Today I’m stepping into a more moody colour palette using the Peony Cluster 3D embossing folder from Lisa Horton Crafts. This design is already full of drama, but kraft or black cardstock paired with metallic tones takes it to a completely different place.

The main trick on this card is incredibly simple: I applied VersaMark ink only to the recessed areas between the peonies and heat‑embossed them with WOW Verdigris Patina. This tiny step completely shifts the character of the background - the contrast between the metallic patina and the raised florals gives the whole panel a vintage, slightly distressed look.

To soften the edges and add depth, I blended a touch of Cloud 9 inks around the flowers. The combination of metallics, shading and deep tones creates that perfect “moody vintage” vibe I love.

A small sentiment finishes the card without taking away from the texture. Simple techniques, bold effect - exactly the kind of project that makes you stop and look twice.
