Embossed Leaves & Inky Layers – Mixed‑Media Background
Hello everyone!
Today I’m sharing a mixed‑media background built in three simple but effective steps - all using my favourite Lisa Horton Crafts products.
I started by stamping the leaves from the Muse & Maker collection in a warm brown shade. While the ink was still wet, I covered them with WOW Clear Embossing Powder to lock in the colour and add that subtle glossy shine. This gives the leaves a beautiful raised texture that becomes the foundation of the whole background.
With the embossing set, I moved on to ink smooshing using Cloud 9 inks. I love how the colours spread naturally, creating soft transitions and organic shapes around the embossed areas. The embossing resists the ink perfectly, so the leaves stay crisp and shiny.
Once everything dried, I added structure and depth using the Stencil Deck. The stencilled layers sit beautifully on top of the smooshed background, adding movement and tying the whole composition together.
A few finishing touches - the butterfly and sentiment strips - complete the card and bring that warm, happy feel.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope this inspires you to mix stamping, embossing and ink smooshing in your next project.
