Layered with Love – Mixed Media MDF Journal Cover

Hello everyone!

Today I’m sharing a whimsical MDF journal created with amazing products from Polkadoodles. I absolutely love working with their MDF elements — they’re such a perfect base for mixed media fun!

For this cover, I used one of the MDF house-shaped journals. I painted the surface with layers of acrylic paints and added colour highlights using Distress Oxides. The cover is built up with three layers to give it extra dimension and depth — I focused on texture, contrast, and colour blending to bring it to life.

The heart window and funky mushrooms add a playful touch, and I couldn't resist finishing it off with some ribbon ties for that rustic feel.
